Winter Storm Update

We're aware of the damage, displacements, frustrations, and stress many of our families across the state are facing. Our Nashville office was without power from Sunday morning until Friday afternoon and a few of our team are still waiting on restored power at home. We've been responding to telephone messages and emails remotely yet if you need additional resources, please see below:
United Way's 2-1-1 Service can offer resources for food, shelter, & other services. Dial 2-1-1 to be connected with a trained specialist. You can also visit https://www.uwtn.org/tn-211 to learn more.

    • If you need assistance with damage from the Jan 2026 Winter Storms, call the number above to ask for help. All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need. The hotline will remain open through February 13, 2026. We will connect you with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups & faith communities who may be able to assist with:
      • cutting fallen trees
      • piling debris & garbage at curb
      • tarping roofs
      • mucking out

Free Printing in Murfreesboro

For children who may need a printer, Staples in Murfreesboro will be printing off any student school work for FREE. Bring the work on a flash drive or email it to them. Some limits apply- black and white only, limit of 80 pages.

Access to Benefits

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) causes businesses to close across the state, the State of Tennessee will make it easier for people to get emergency cash, unemployment, and SNAP benefits.

Need help finding access to meals? This national resource lets you locate meals while schools remain closed. Data is changing quickly and this tool does its best to stay up-to-date.

Locations are shown in certain states. You can search your city and it will tell you if that area offers breakfast, lunch, or both and what days you can visit. Check out the tool here.

Veteran Support

Operation Stand Down Tennessee is using their Facebook page for veterans to continue to connect with one another when many of us are still feeling isolated. Tapping into a sense of community can be extremely important when going through uncertain times like this. It can help us feel supported and better manage stress.

Affordable Connection Program (ACP)

The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.

The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service ($75 for households on qualifying Tribal lands). Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

Finding yourself dealing with a tough time? You're not alone. The Crisis Text Line is here to help. Anytime you're experiencing pain or in need of support, you're welcome to connect.

This new website organizes content from across departments, making it easier for families to find what they need. In addition to articles about valuable topics relating to health, education, development, and support, kidcentraltn.com features a comprehensive directory of state-operated and state-funded services for children and families.

Childcare

The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) expanded support for essential workers who are serving their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This change makes the childcare available to essential workers in the financial, religious, utility, and hotel industries among others.
